Perhaps the problem is that they understand exactly why people liked Stargate, but have taken an irrational dislike of fans to its logical conclusion and decided to do something different
Heh. That would be depressing, but entirely plausible. But they seem so truly shocked that the fans of original Stargate aren't loving their new vision. I wouldn't be shocked if they truly don't understand that instead of fine-tuning the franchise into brilliance like they were trying to do, they simply removed all the things that people appreciated about it.
