Right. So. Fanboys. Fanboys, The Movie (2008) not, (emphasis)fanboys(/emphasis). Just so we're clear.
When I first heard about this movie, like *years* ago, I was really excited (Kristen Bell!), and then when they didn't release it, and didn't release it, and then didn't release it some more before shuffling it pretty quickly to DVD... well, you know what that means.
So much potential! So much fail! Like, seriously, the first 5 minutes I mostly spent thinking "wow, this is really low-budget," and "wow, can these people not act," but now I'm inclined to put the blame squarely on the director's head, with a tangent into wanting to beat the writers for ruining a great premise.
And then there was the side trip into "seriously? did you just say that?" It's possible that I asked the question of the TV at some point tonight.
There's a whole bunch of cameos by otherwise famous and/or funny people, who I can only assume were sucked in by what sounds like a great premise, and who didn't read the rest of the script.
It's a shame, because there were a few bits that were absolutely, perfectly, laugh-out-loud funny. Sigh.
