This is still not that entry about movies
Apr. 22nd, 2010 04:05 pmIn a step forward (for me, maybe not for you) these things are actually related to each other. In my head.
I found out that there's a new season of Party Down (created by Rob Thomas). I didn't finish watching season one, but I've been meaning to, and since Netflix has partnered up with Starz, I went to see if it was available for instant viewing. Good news: it is!
Other news: when searching for "party down" I also got these results: Robert Downey Jr. (I assume because of Down, but it amuses me to think it's because of Party. Oh, Bob. I'm so glad you sorted yourself out.), and The Donner Party (2009) starring Crispin Glover. I will not be watching that, despite the fact that it is available for instant viewing, because I would like to be able to sleep tonight.
The last time I remembered that I wanted to watch Party Down it was because Ryan Hansen had a bit part in Cutting Edge 2. His five minutes on-screen were basically the highlight of the movie, and I spent most of the time wishing that he was the slacker male lead instead of that other guy. That other guy has an Arby's commercial now, and I hate him in that too.
I (re)watched all four of the Cutting Edge movies a couple weeks ago, in order, mostly to say that I had and to never do it ever again. The original is mostly coasting along on nostalgia, I think. The second, as I mentioned... not good. Definitely the sequel curse there. However! I really sort of like the third and fourth, but by that point I'd decided that the common thread of the Cutting Edge sequels is that no one's fairy-tale romance ever works out in the end. I had an entire entry typed up about the first two, but no one needs to read that. If you're desperate to talk about it, it's back here.
