I like being in the Atlanta airport, not least because it's a hub that gets a lot of armed forces traffic. I've never been brave enough to be the one going up to people to shake their hands and thank them for their service, but it makes my day to see those moments of connection in what is otherwise a very rushy and impersonal experience now. I can only hope that its worth something to them as well, instead of one more damn thing to deal with on what are probably very long travel days for them.
Also, I ought not to laugh at or otherwise pity people in the air force. Even in my head. Even if they look really unfortunately geeky.
Robert Downey Jr. was on the Monday night football pre-game show on ESPN last night, and I have no idea why, as I was in a bar with no captions or sound on. I need to look that up when I'm back in the land of internet video.
