I did a fair amount of adulting today. I should, on my to-do list, be writing porn or catching up on my current season TV backlog or cleaning the kitchen. Instead, I'm watching Persuasion because it's on Amazon Prime, and I can't remember whether I've actually seen it or just commentary whenever they made the most recent Austen thingers.

Is that the one with the really dishy blonde guy as Wentworth? I liked that one.

It's not, it's the 1995 BBC one. Also quite good! Really quiet, but, Persuasion, so.

I'm now 80% sure I haven't seen it before, but I can't imagine what I was watching that used clips from it... Might've been talking about portrayals of unlikeable family members in Austen adaptations, argh.

Not sure if I've seen it either. Perhaps not. One of my roommates made me watch all adaptations ever, and I'll admit it's a bit of a blur.

I've just noticed that this, the Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson, and the BBC Pride and Prejudice miniseries were all 1995, and I'm pretty sure those are the only productions I've seen - not counting, like, Clueless (also 1995!).

I definitely haven't seen Kiera Knightly's P&P and I'm pretty sure I passed on Gwyneth Paltrow's Emma as well.

She just watched the Knightly one so she could yell at it. I rather liked it. Oh well.

I liked the newer version of Persuasion with the dishy blond Wentworth, and the Mansfield Park with Billie Piper. I'd avoid Lost in Austen, though I like the cast.

I imprinted on Jane Austen and Regency romances so. hard. as a little duckling teenaged reader, but I think I'm glad I didn't read Persuasion until I was an adult. That movie though, such hearts in my eyes!
