Formisbegotten: A song that's been stuck in your brain lately?
Oh, songs in my brain. I'm in a fairly constant state of walking around humming or whistling the last song I heard, but sometimes things do get stuck or pop in unbidden, like the day a couple weeks ago when The Old Gumbie Cat would not stop singing itself in my head.
If you, like me, hadn't seen the cast of Cats in costume since you were eight years old, you're welcome. Now I need to resist the temptation to go look up Starlight Express.
As for things more recently stuck in my brain, it's mostly been Christmas songs - carols, hymns, pop, whatever was playing in the last store I visited. These tracks, or at least their choruses, have been more persistent.

I first found Smallpools because of a song ( Dreaming - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8xni3EcIbc ) that they'd licensed to ESPN during the Us Open - a not at all mortifying fact that I told their drummer while I was buying a t-shirt from them. ("My dad said the same thing!" he said. He then clarified that his dad had heard it during a tennis match, not that that's how he found out about the band.) I follow them on various social media. Their CD is on heavy rotation in my house because it's in the CD player in my bedroom. This is their new(ish) song from their (eventual) album. I listened to it on repeat an embarrassing number of times without tiring of it.

From the same playlist as Anna Sun. Like many people, the only Harvey Danger song I knew was Flagpole Sitta. (Thanks for that, teen movie starring Katie Holmes, I think.) This is much lovelier than Flagpole Sitta.
