I have had a massive headache all morning that is likely either caffeine withdrawl or dehydration, and I can't figure out which. It would be nice if the two cures did not work against each other.

I am a bit of a hypocrite about chain stores and big box retailers. I enjoy the convenience of fast food, shopping malls, Best Buy, and Lowe's. I've resigned myself to Starbucks and the other chain coffeehouses until I settle somewhere again or am reunited with my coffeemaker.

This, though, really bothers me for some reason: Crumbs Bake Shop. There are ~15 of them in NYC and suburbs, and they're opening more. Do we really need $4 cupcakes to go with our $4 coffees? I can't think of a single reason why a chain of boutique bakeries would be superior to local, independent ones.

I'm waaaaay too cheap and/or broke to spend $4 on a friggen cupcake. I can make myself two dozen cupcakes for the same price, geez. Don't these people know there's a recession on?

Sorry about your headache. :(
