I spent the afternoon watching fanfiction. Er, I mean watching Lost in Austen and Shakespeare Retold.

So, yeah. Transformative works. I'm not sure I'm on board with Lizzie Bennett choosing modern times over her family. I'd much rather Amanda'd run off with Wickham. Except they'd have nothing to live on and he'd be miserable. Maybe I'd rather Wickham followed her back to modern times, where you can actually make a living by being charming and qualified for diddly squat.

I also spent a lot of time fighting past my embarassment squick on Amanda's behalf, but it's nothing in the face of an average episode of The Office.

I rather enjoyed Shakespeare Retold once I worked out which characters were which. Except, I couldn't stop seeing Kenneth Branagh in the retelling of Much Ado About Nothing, probably because the movie is the only version of that play that I've seen.

I miss the internet.

I actually had to bail on Lost in Austen because my embarrassment squick was too bad. Also, I didn't like breaking up my ship.

Oh, yes, THIS. I was into the first episode, and really curious to see how Amanda would fix the story, until I realized that the show had absolutely no intention whatsoever of setting things to rights.
