Finally got to go see How To Train Your Dragon. Everyone's seen this by now, yes? If not, you should go. Really. I'll wait.

I really loved it, but - and feel free to disagree with me here - the thing that requires the most suspension of disbelief is not the teenage viking engineer, or the fact that apparently dragons are giant flying cats. It's that they are giant flying cats that listen to you when you tell them to do something.

As a couple of people on my f-list pointed out, Ryan Seacrest was totally loopy last night on Idol. Drunk, or... what's the Hollywood code for that? A bad medicine interaction? Either way, that was totally the highlight of the night. I think this is the first season I've watched where I really, really didn't care who wins, in the sense that I wouldn't buy any of their albums. I'd like to see Crystal take it, sort of on principle, but I think she'd be another Taylor - whatisname. Taylor? the guy with the gray hair, and the Woo! - in terms of mainstream success or lack thereof. I reserve the right to change my mind if we ever get to hear one of her original songs.

Docu-drama! Last week, on The Hills... This season on The Deadliest Catch, it's less documentary and more melodrama. Family drama, competition drama, Russel-on-his-third-ship-this-year drama, babies deckhands switched at birth the dock, and a ship goes down. Maybe it's just that I watched season one last week, which was actually about crab fishing, and during a derby season, no less, so there was really no time for stupid squabbling.
