fuse VJ: What is the secret? What is the glue for you guys, over two decades being together
Billie Joe Armstrong: They say it's like a marriage, and it is... you keep the fights clean and the sex dirty. So. Basically that's what it comes down to.
fuse VJ: Brotherly love...
Billie: We share. Everything.
I watched the Green Day Rocks Broadway special about the show, and they used footage from the Berkeley Rep production and the Broadway one sort of interchangeably. Hi, Matt Caplan! Awkward. I'm curious to know how Stark does with Tunny when he's got more time with the character, or if he's going to plateau where he's at, because I don't feel like he's as fully in it as John and Michael are.
Now that I've seen video of the Berkeley show, I can see why they would have wanted to recast Matt Caplan. I can give him the benefit of the doubt that his acting live was bounds ahead of how it shows up on youtube-quality video, but I really didn't ever get any of the vibes from him that I'd expect from the character. Now that's probably as much my personal experience as a suburban teenager of the '90s coloring my expectation of the role as it is his performance of it, but he must've been around those kids, even if he wasn't one of them. I had a really hard time buying that he was part of the crowd onstage.
