I watched last night's new Leverage episodes with the house-guests, and it was... odd. It's possible that this is the first time I've watched new TV with other people in several years. My friends who live around here are movie/dinner/hangout friends, and most of the TV they watch is of the Real Housewives... variety, which I couldn't be less interested in if I tried.

I can't pinpoint what was odd about it, though the part of me that's been reading [community profile] metafandom entries is waving its arms and then pointing to the transformational/affirmational divide in the middle of my living room. I'm not particularly fannish about Leverage in any sense, though you'd think I would be, because I am more interested in the characters in general than I ever am in the plot of an episode. For instance: I have no idea what happened for much of last season except that Sophie was off finding herself. I had forgotten that Nate turned himself in. I still do not remember what it was that Nate turned himself in for.

I could have made a long story short, here, by saying that I spent two hours watching Leverage sort of disinterestedly when I would much rather have been brainstorming more interesting stories.
The houseguests were visiting on their way back from a BBQ with some mutual friends of ours. I was looking forward to filling most of their visit with gossip and/or stories about said friends, but apparently they spent the whole day in an impromptu Magic: The Gathering tournament.

As a result, we had a lot of sort of awkward silence, and then watched War of the Worlds (whyyyyyyy?) while waiting for Leverage to come on, and spent the whole time saying, "don't they die for a really stupid reason? water? sunlight?" But apparently the answer was germs. I don't know if they said what type, because I was out of the room when the exposition fairy showed up at the end to announce that. I'm probably doomed to watch it again now.

On the plus side, I ordered pizza to be delivered for the first time in I don't know how many years, and it showed up when it was supposed to and tasted good.
I'm going out of town in a couple days and won't be back until July 4th. I may very well post again before I leave, but if not, I have now explained my impending silence.
