I was thinking of going to the Rooney/Young Veins/Black Gold show in New York tonight, but not really wanting to make the effort if it's still raining, and then I realized they are playing Toad's Place on Sunday, which is much more convenient, not to mention a venue I have actually been to. So, decision deferred!

Some of Rooney's music sounds vaguely familiar, like I probably heard it a couple times on the college station. In poking around, I discovered that they performed the Iron Man Armored Adventures theme.

As for Black Gold, "Shine" is the farewell song on SYTYCD this season. I have the vague notion that there was an Eric associated with Panic! at some point in the past. (Keyboards, maybe?) Dear Lazyweb: is this that guy?

I sort of knew that The Sorcerer's Apprentice opened today, but for some reason I thought it was one of those midnight showing things...and also that today was Thursday. Don't movies open on Fridays? Did I totally make that up? But no! I ca go see it today at noon, so I may, if rain keeps thwarting my other plans.

One of the RottenTomatoes review snippets says "[Baruchel] nearly redeems the thing ... The surprise of The Sorcerer's Apprentice is that it's less satisfying as an adventure than as endearing nerd romance." Since I'm mostly wanting to see it for Jay Baruchel and some glowy special effects, I am sort of okay with that. It appears from the rest of the reviews, though, that the script is utter crap, so we'll see.
