I could write more thoughtfully or include transitions, but I think this collection of junk will illustrate the state of my life this week:
I had a venti latte for breakfast. The fact that it was my entire meal (bad...) made the $5 more palatable.
Why do my gmail ads think I want to know more about Gilmore Girls slash? O.o
Some published authors say Writing a sex scene is an impossible task
Catching up on TV is a process of one step forward, two steps back.
No spoilers contained herein, this is just Around Friday or so, I watched the first couple episodes of White Collar, which means that I was suddenly twenty-something episodes behind, versus never having watched - more about that later. I told myself that watching more episodes was contingent on my accomplishing some responsible grown-up things.
And then, because I am both an adult and five years old, I obeyed the letter of the agreement with myself, but not the spirit. I spent most of the weekend watching Mythbusters and Top Gear, and catching up on SGU, Chase, and Detroit 1-8-7.
The best thing I can say about SGU and Chase that is that it was a Robert Knepper-themed event, courtesy of his guest star on Chase, and his thus-far minor presence on SGU this season. I don't hate SGU, and honestly, my memories of SG-1 episodes are pretty hazy by now, so I'm not doing much of comparing the two. I will say that the second half of the first season took away many, though not all, of my concerns, and nothing has happened so far in season two that makes me want to run away and never come back.
Chase is slightly heavy-handed with the series regular characters, but I've sort of enjoyed the targets so far. I can't say that I'm even remotely interested in the marshal's personal relationships, and I'm a little dubious about their methods, but it's decent popcorn TV.
I was not at all as excited about episode three of Detroit 1-8-7, but I don't think I was really paying attention to the episode, so I have no idea if that's my fault or theirs.
And then, as you might have guessed, I ended up watching the rest of season one of White Collar on Sunday and Monday.
The only thing that had been been holding me back, besides my general failure to watch TV in a timely manner, is that I grew up with Tiffani(-Amber) Thiessen on Saved by the Bell, and I've never been able to unsee Kelly Kapowski in her performances, and I really wanted to love Elizabeth. The good news is, I got over it. The bad news is, I'm a little O.o about the season one finale and season two opener, but I have faith!
