Aug. 21st, 2013 09:53 pmIt is a little weird to me that "these people who live near me are good at a thing" is a reason to be excited and to be a fan. That's not to say I don't do it, I just don't understand what the mechanism is.
That said, I have been watching a lot of the Little League world series. Which is like the ultimately weird version of sports fandom, because there is almost no continuity in teams year over year.
I had to stop watching the elimination games though, mostly because of the commentators. I get that their job is to fill dead air, but oh my god, stop talking about the mistake that the 12 year old boy made four innings ago.
