As a multi-fannish person, I don't usually end up in the corners of fandom where the deep cuts of introspection and analysis happen, but I do love a newsletter, and I do love a rec community, and am so grateful for the people who have their fingers on the pulses of their respective fandoms.

I sometimes forget that
bestthingever exists, if I'm honest :( There's enough
fancake traffic on my reading page that I have been known to mistake the less-frequent
bestthingever entries for fancake ones. Whoops. But it's great!
metanews (mirrored at
metanewsfandom)
I don't remember if I ever knew the whole story about what happened with metafandom, mostly because I was a sporadic reader at best, but I was excited to see metanews appear. (also
as_others_see_us, particularly when there's a Big Story About Fanfic)
This one isn't strictly fannish, but there's a lot of fannish folk there -

This community is a support group for struggling writers of any genre, who need the support and encouragement of other struggling writers. There will be no judgments, no deadlines, no reason to justify your non-productivity.
This is the new year-round (but not daily) version of the dearly departed

I don't spend a lot of time on twitter, but
TagsOfAO3 is a recent discovery, and it's pretty great if you like a periodic reminder of the awesome ridiculousness of fandom (although not, obviously, if tumblr-style tags on AO3 are the bane of your existence. I've found my peace with it :)
