I have such an embarrassing grade-school crush on Andy Murray, y'all. Like, I still forget he exists for months at a time, but when I remember, I could literally spend hours just watching him. I don't, because that would be creepy, but. Lordy.

I am similarly invested, in both intensity and forgetfulness, in all fictional Andy/Novak narratives. So tonight's US Open match is becoming sort of a problem for me. Help.

I have a mild version of your issue. Also the exact same level of your issue with Jenson Button. I don't know what's up with that.

I did not know who Jenson Button is until just now - it's been years since I watched any racing - but I can see how he might cause that sort of problem!
