So I finally found time, in the hockey lull and with the bonus help of Andy Murray taking a few days off tennis, to go see The Avengers.

I... Liked it? I bookmarked a ton of reaction posts, and whatever was in the metanews roundup, so maybe I'll change my mind, but it probably helped that I'm not in MCU fandom.

Given that my most recent action movie gripe was the (unfunded) collateral damage in that Fast and Furious scene in Rio or whatever two movies ago, I really appreciated both Tony buying the skyscraper he trashed and the reference to the Stark recovery fund or whatever.

Related thought - I was about to say "I don't really expect Tony to realize that money doesn't fix everything," except that is completely untrue. But I do enjoy how Tony knows firsthand that money doesn't fix everything, but damned if he isn't going to try it anyway.

In terms of "what now" fannishness, Mostly, I find what I want is fic where Wanda comes out of the experience - and I thought of this mid-movie, so she wasn't mourning at that point - with a huge, inappropriate crush on Clint, but I haven't figured out what the endgame of that fic would be. I am usually on team Polyamory Solves Everything, but meh. I don't see Clint being into her, even without the Actual Wife and Children, Holy Shit.

I don't even know where to start with the Black Widow thing. Clearly, I already wanted a Black Widow movie. ETA - I am actually ragier about the fact that her dialogue while riding a motorcycle up the stairs was, "move it, coming through, SORRY," than i was about anything else.

For all that I haven't actually read any of the Hawkeye comics, I much prefer his accidental landlord situation to secret family, but I wouldn't have minded all the post-Thor Clint fics with Laura in that mix.

Part of my brain definitely decided that Vision and Sentry were the same person, but in the end, I think the things that I liked about Sentry for that hot minute are also things I like about Vision, so whatever.

Also, not news, I really enjoy Paul Bettany and James Spader. Ooh, I have an episode of The Blacklist to watch.
