I was cautiously optimistic going into this. And then, ten minutes in I started drafting this entry. I can't remember the last time watching something made me this angry, and continuing to watch it made me continually angrier.
Dream sequence ft. some sort of flying parasite. Well. I am already not excited to watch more of this.
Oh, the hero has a lovely pregnant wife. Bet she's dead by the end of the episode.
Fairly rapey sex in some nobleman's castle. Oh, it's the unfaceted bad guy from this season's The Last Ship. Bet you he's an unfaceted bad guy here too.
Nobleman's wife staring longingly out the window plaintively. So, that'd be the replacement love interest for once Main Dude's wife is dead, then.
Hey, it's the chef from Galavant. (Also, hey its that other scientist guy from The Last Ship.)
Main dude used to be a nobleman. Because of course he did.
Oh, they killed all the women and children.
Hey, the beloved pregnant wife gets to live in secret. That'd be a nice twist.
Nope. No, she does not.
Well, the murder-y abusive torturer seems to have facets.
Oh, he's dead too.
Really, they're doing that thing where they stand in a circle and let the two leaders fight?
For funsies, a bonus reminder that I hate the Joker casting in Gotham during the commercial break.
And the remaining sadistic villain is presented as gay. Great. Goes well with him joking that King Edward was, earlier.
Well, at least the Baron is dead now.
Yes. Vengeance. We get it.
While I do appreciate that Main Dude is now mistakenly focused on the guy who tried to let his wife escape, Snow-White style, literally everyone had to have picked up on the fact that the ~mysterious~ hooded guy was the one who really killed her, without that stupid sword "twist"
So. If the pilot had ditched.... basically the first 75% of the plot and characterization, I might possibly have enjoyed it. The question is now whether I can forgive or ignore it to watch any more. Dammit. I really did like the last few scenes.
