Dear America: I do not understand the praise Adam Lambert is getting from the judges. Seriously, he's like Taylor Hicks, except that he's younger and wears makeup. Yes, he is a talented singer. Yes, he is a performer. I do not doubt that people are entertained by him, but they are also entertained by Tom Jones. Tom Jones is not rocking the Top 40. I still have no idea what Adam's album or tour would look like.

Kris Allen, on the other hand, I can see being hugely popular, even with the cutesy wife. Ditto Matt Giraud, if he'd perform consistently. I don't think he was as bad as they thought he was, but he didn't blow the roof off it tonight.

Anoop. If he really wants to be an R&B artist, just... dude. Maybe I'm harboring a racial bias that I'm just not buying his uptempo performances, because he was SO GOOD the past two weeks, and now he's all Bobby Brown again.

Megan seems to have misplaced her niche. Danny is rocking the heartfelt, but I don't think I've seen him sell an upbeat song yet. Allison is sort of retainer-mumbly every week. Does she have her tongue pierced, or invisible braces or something? I want to love her, but every week I'm less impressed. Scott sang Billy Joel, and as far as I'm concerned, you'd have to murder Billy Joel for me to not love it. And Lil. Oh, Lil. I don't remember any of her earlier performances anymore, but I feel like she should be kicking a lot more ass than she did tonight. Pitchy, sorta.

Also, god job Kara learning to count.
