I don't know if anyone else remembers this from high school biology, but part of the segment on the origin of life, and evolution, and whatever, was a bit about spontaneous generation, and the experiment someone did to prove that maggots did not "magically" appear from meat. I'm actually a little bit worried now that somewhere out there, that is being used in an intelligent design debate.
There is an intelligently written post, somewhere in my head, about faith, and literalist beliefs in the bible, and the fact that maybe - JUST MAYBE - the stories told to people thousands of years ago were framed in a way that they could understand, and weren't necessarily a how-to guide for how to live in the 21st century.
But, because I am a horrible person, here, have a video about... well, honestly, I'm not sure. I lost track when he said that bananas were designed for ease of entry.
