Just about everything that happened on Project Runway this week made me sad. Not, like, real sad, but TV-sad.
I watched the new Fame today. I agree with all the reviews that said it was a little confusing, they didn't know any of the character's names (I didn't learn Kherington's character's name until her last scene, and consistently confused two of the guy's names), and that it was too many characters and not enough plot crammed into the movie. But! There was singing, and dancing, and it was cinematographically (is that a word?) better-made than the YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ME teen dialogue, so, whatever. I think movies are important, I don't mind having paid to see it.
Although, $3 cheaper for a matinee show, me and 5 other people in the theater. I went to see it at the theater where we always used to go in high school when we wanted to go to a "real" movie theater. Surprisingly, they seem to have replaced the seats recently. I was expecting it to be disgusting, like most of the rest of the theaters around here seem to be.
And now, for something completely different, I'm going to watch the Generation Kill DVDs that Netflix kindly delivered today.

Date: 2009-09-26 10:05 pm (UTC)Considering that the character is introduced in the audition scenes as being from the middle of nowhere, shipped off to the big city for his chance at success, there was still plenty of room for him to have some sort of vaguely-angsty authentic teen gay storyline set within a current culture if they'd wanted to. If they were going to remake something, I would so, so much rather that they'd remade the TV show, because they could have made 6 hours out of this movie without even trying hard.
