So, don't be shy. Raise your hand if you recognized the dance that Jakob was doing in his little talent show? (hint: boy band!)
As much as I hate to admit it, Ashleigh is getting better. I don't adore Jakob, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone else won it with him in the finals, the same way that I wasn't surprised to see Brandon or Will not make it to the end.
I can even rein in my hatred for Tabitha and Napoleon because now I know that Jason Derulo is responsible for the song that samples or whateer Imogen Heap. So, thanks for that. (Video screen text messages! Much less annoying than that stupid checkerboard thing they did.)
So, new Broadway choreographer! Spencer Liff! He seems like... a much stronger dancer than Tyce. Not to mention, you know, actually strong. Did you see that lift? The aerial cartwheel thing? No wonder Kevin couldn't live up to that. I didn't think it was quite as weak as the judges thought it was, but still, not great when the piece about the rehearsal makes your performance look bad.
I'm sort of tired of the "You are a [whatever style] dancer" critiques. Maybe I've just been spoiled by the top 10s that can do almost anything.
So, Karen and Kevin... rough, as predicted. Noelle and Russell, I actually missed most of their routine and all of the video before, but apparently it went well?
As for Channing and Viktor...I love Bobby McFerrin, but that? Is the most annoying song in the world. I was sort of cringing thinking of something quirky-jazz choreographed to the Beatles Blackbird, but I wish that'd been it. Preach on, Shankman.
Kathryn and Legacy's Paso wasn't as horrible as I thought it was going to be, except for that train wreck lift at the end. Mostly I kept getting distracted by his shoulders and whether or not he was keeping them back.
Okay, so. I love Ellenore, she's my favorite and I'm happy that she and Ryan are doing well, but Ryan looks very much like someone I know, and it's really distracting. And, as always: Awwww, Travis! Also, pretty (and appropriate) backdrop on the video screen, and pretty overhead lights with the leaf pattern on the floor.
"Meet the kiddie versions of Mollee and Nathan." As opposed to...? Laurieann Gibson sort of freaks me out, but not as much as whatever the hell Mollee's obsession with the wacky braids. I don't know if I thought they messed it up because of my irrational hatred, or because they really missed it. I just expected it to be much more crisp.
So, four more eleminations before top 10. I'm calling Kevin and Nathan-or-Legacy-or-Russell, depending on who fails in the voting, and Noelle or Karen or Kathryn or Channing, but I think that all depends on next week's routine.
Sons of Anarchy continues to be awesome in completely unpredictable ways. It almost makes me want to watch other things on FX, but not quite.
