I've only ever watched one episode of Psych, but this video clip from the ComicCon panel amuses me greatly:

I've spent a good chunk of the last few days watching eskimokissproject's clips from Alles Was Zählt. I haven't watched a US soap opera in years, but now I remember how easy it is to get sucked in. Like, I am seriously considering doing some sort of German course to be able to watch full episodes someday.

Right now, though, I'm stuck in the doldrums where I really sort of want to hit Roman any time he's within 50 feet of Deniz, so maybe not.

I was in high school when the tragic and/or epic love affairs of Robin and Stone (the good girl and the street kid who has AIDS) and Brenda and Sonny (the... model? and the mobster) were the top-billed drama on General Hospital. Somewhere, I even have a copy of the tie-in book for Robin and Stone (cleverly titled something like "Robin's Diary"). I know for a fact that I can get sucked back in to the stories even after a five-year break, so I do my best to not even look at the soap opera magazines at the check-out in the grocery store.

After this latest soap opera binge, I have decided that I vastly prefer one character to be wrong, wrong, wrong, and anyone else to merely be misunderstood and/or troubled. It's not that I don't want all of the characters to be complex (and/or realistic) but... I sort of don't want all of the characters to be complex. I start to lose patience unless I have someone to root for without feeling guilty.

And, some porn battle recs!

A Knight's Tale, Chaucer/Wat, γλαυκῶπις (With Gleaming Eyes) by [personal profile] catwalksalone (who had also written a Sports Night series that I love). Just absolutely lovely, lyrical language.

American Idiot, Tunny/OFC, Unbroken Home. I would still welcome anyone who can make the Extraordinary Girl/Tunny relationship work for me, but I'll take this as a close second.

Generation Kill: Brad/Nate college AU by [personal profile] noelia_g collected here on LJ, but apparently not on her DW yet. Several bits that add up to 8k words.

Brad/Nate, breakup, the second draft of my life by [personal profile] oldfashionedmelody. I think there's a companion piece to this somewhere.

Brad/Nate, commitment, Banking on Maybe. I am such a sucker for emotionally-guarded Brad.

How to Train Your Dragon, Gobber/Stoick, strategy, A stout drink is not the answer to every problem by [personal profile] ponderosa

Justified, Raylan/Winona Redux

Leverage/White Collar, Eliot/Neal Protective Detail Now Extended. In which Eliot continues to be the little black dress we all know and love, despite the fact that I have never watched White Collar.

Shelter, Shaun/Zach, sharpie, sleepy, All Over Skin, which has very little to do with the events of the movie or their particular characters. Just some good ol' drawing on your lover's skin in permanent marker.

Southland, John Cooper/Ben Sherman, pain, Passenger Seat by [personal profile] ladyames

The West Wing, Sam/Toby, AU, untitled, mute, Blank Spaces by [personal profile] blackeyedgirl. I missed basically the second half of TWW's run, and I don't ship Sam/Toby anyway, so I don't know if there's a canon event that provides a logical launching point for this, or if it's just random, but I love it either way.

Veronica Mars/White Collar, Neal/Veronica Stolen Moments which proves that I'll read anything with Veronica Mars in it, too. I should go hunt down those Veronica/Bond fics again.

Actually on second thought I'm just going to put the other ones in a separate entry, because I feel like it's not going to go well.
