OH HAI, Neil Patrick Harris. Enjoying your break after that Rent at the Hollywood Bowl bizzareity? (shut up, that is totally a word.)
My thoughts on the SYTYCD finale can be summed up thusly:
1) Who is that guy, again? And why is he on the final panel, having appeared on the show just one week? And why did he make us watch Damn Yankees again? This makes me even more convinced that those two routines simply don't resonate with me because I've never seen the show.
2) The fact that Tabitha and Napoleon dominated the finale does not mean that they are awesome. (Although I will grant that they are better than last season.) It means that you didn't have enough hip-hop choreographers, or memorable choreography in general.
3) They broke a million tiny fangirls' hearts by not doing the prom routine, but I bet there would have been a number of snit fits if Travis (as much as I love him!) had three routines in the finale.
4) I love Adam Shankman, and I hope he never leaves this show. Particularly because when he leaves the show, he does things like take questionable pictures with Miley Cyrus. Not to mention that he even works with Miley Cyrus. Does he not realize that she was on the pathetic side of the dance battle? How can he do that to his Step Up homies?
5) I didn't miss Mary Murphy. I did miss having a ballroom person on the panel, and Toni sort of creeps me out.
6) Why no Spencer Liff? I will reiterate my comments from last night re: stuffing Tyce and his routines in a metaphorical box. I would like people to hire Spencer Liff because he is awesome. I would like people to hire Tyce so that he is too busy to do SYTYCD.
7) I loved the group routine, and yet I can't remember a single thing to say about it. Lauren had a pretty dress?
8) I kept bursting out in inappropriate laughter during "Shine". It was mostly Eric's fault.
9) As promised, I really don't care who won. I'm happy for all of them.

Date: 2010-08-14 04:25 am (UTC)I've got this whole post in my head about the amount of time I spend thinking, "Oh, honey, no," at people, because it is a lot. Kenny just reminds me of my mother when she gets into a conversation with the person working the grocery store checkout, and it is obvious to me that everyone is waiting for her to wrap it up and get moving already, but she just keeps talking. I don't suppose there are the same conversational cues when you're talking on TV, but it's that same uncomfortable feeling :(
