I? Have Yuletide fatigue.

If you are desperately curious as to what I've been reading, I'm bookmarking everything on my Ao3 account, and instead of duplicating that, I'm just going to highlight a few stories that I wish were getting more attention.

This first one's outside the cut, because I really, really, really wish more people would read it and tell the author it's fabulous. It's about as close as you can get to a five-minute fandom, and you can google book about 70% of the script for the scene, and pick up the rest on youtube. (There are many versions on youtube, bless them all for filming their efforts, that's one of the better ones, though perhaps not the best.)

Fall on Your Knees (2584 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Almost Maine - John Cariani
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Chad (Almost Maine)/Randy (Almost Maine)
Characters: Chad (Almost Maine), Randy (Almost Maine)
Summary:

Chad and Randy navigate the sometimes-awkward territory of moving from lifelong best friends to lifelong best friends who have confessed their love to each other. There are some bumps in the road.

Alignment (2064 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Bull Durham (1988)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Annie Savoy/Crash Davis
Characters: Annie Savoy, Crash Davis
Summary:

Crash never asked her to go with him.

my note: Sounds just like Annie, if you need a hit of Annie in your life.

The Young Wolf (1797 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Frontier Wolf - Rosemary Sutcliff
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Characters: Alexios Flavius Aquila, Hilarion (Frontier Wolf)
Summary:

Alexios returns to Castellum with his wolf.

my note: Still have not read this book (read the first chapter! progress!) but whatever. The average fic that people are writing in Rosemary Sutcliff fandoms - which I mean in the median-for-the-fandom sense - is of such high quality that I'm pretty much unconcerned that I don't really know what they're talking about, and I would totally come back and re-read the stories on the flimsiest excuse, and finally knowing the canon is much better than a flimsy excuse.

Oh, anyway, the actual fic. Hilarion somewhat unsubtly worrying about and taking pride in his Commander.

(just go and read everything else in the fandom while you're there)

North-Northwest (431 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead - Stoppard, Echo Bazaar
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Rosencrantz, Guildenstern
Summary:

The Melancholy Prince is mad north-northwest, but Rosencrantz and Guildenstern would take any direction out of Bugsby's Marshes.

my note: Do not let having no idea what Echo Bazaar is stop you. (I didn't. It's a game. Just go with it)

A Naval Romance (1149 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Persuasion - Jane Austen
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Admiral Croft/Sophia Croft
Characters: Admiral Croft, Sophia Croft, Frederick Wentworth, Original Characters
Summary:

Sophie Wentworth met George Croft for the first time when the family went to see Frederick off on his first sea voyage as a midshipman of barely 12 years.

my note: Basically, I wish I were Sophia Croft. As I said in my comment, love this, love them and their frank and somewhat unusual courtship to go with their married life.

just a change I'm going through (552 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Macdonald Hall - Gordon Korman
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Boots O'Neal, Bruno Walton, Cathy Burton, Diane Grant
Summary:

Maybe letting Elmer take part in the bake sale hadn't been the best idea.

my note: "the world-trembling idea of Cathy Burton developing superpowers," Again, as I said in my comment, I would read thousands of words of this.

Thanks for highlighting the Persuasion story from Madness -- I often don't get around to reading that collection and this was charming.
