The nice thing about Dancing With the Stars is that it only takes me about an hour to watch a two-hour episode, because I fast forward through almost all the talking and half the dancing...

They added contemporary last season, and I missed the news until the first of three routines tonight which were... awful. Even the parts that were danced well were terrifyingly overwrought.

The woman who plays Mercedes on Glee (Amber something?) is on this season, and a good chunk of the original cast was in the audience to support her. Absolutely adorable. Made several times more adorable by the fact that she brought it with an amazing cha-cha.

Also, Snooki. So. At least she acknowledges that she was a hot mess, and seems to be slightly less so now.

I've just watched maybe an hour of various One Direction things, because whatever I sometimes feel about their batshit fandom, they do seem to be genuinely nice boys who are genuinely thankful for their success, and genuinely want people to be happy and well, etc.

Mostly because the median state of young adults was sort of pissing me off today.

I knew which ones were Harry and Zayn going in. I'm fairly certain that I can identify Niall now. I may even manage to retain the knowledge that one of them is named Niall. I can not, without googling right now, name the other two, or tell them apart. One of them changes his hair a lot? I think that might be throwing me off.

Have I mentioned here (did you know?) that Morgan Spurlock directed their tour documentary? I feel like I've mentioned that. Did I also mention this article? Crazy Talk: How One Direction’s Movie Defends Boy Bands' Female Fans (subtitle: "The Morgan Spurlock-directed documentary One Direction: This Is Us skirts the sexism often plaguing conversations about the act's global following.")

My cat has basically free run of the house, except the dining room table, which I will shoo him off of (it seems to have become a point of contention between us) and the kitchen counter, which he is thankfully totally uninterested in unless I leave food out and it's coming up on his dinner time.

I had friends over recently, and they were (gasp!) sitting on the couch, and I was sitting on one of the chairs, and the cat was So. Mad. Oh my god, so angry.

I definitely spent too long not having a social life.

Also, and this may be typical of other cats, but it still amuses me every time it happens. He doesn't so much eat the cat grass as suck the flavor out of it. Sucks the flavor. Out of grass.

And in starting to google "I think the neighbors have cats" because I can't remember if it was a Story People image (nope) or some random my mom found (more likely) the top two autocomplete suggestions were "I think my neighbor is a drug dealer" "I think my neighbor is a serial killer"

Prior to that "I think the squirrels are mocking me" and "I think the knob broke" which I presume are quotes.

Having said, (as I have said many, many times) that I am over the premise of Suits, I can't seem to quit it.

Well played, writers. Argh. So satisfying and yet simultaneously so frustrating.
