Happy New Year!

This week has been a lot. Today looks better? It's starting on a good note, anyway. Slept well, woke up and had home fries and eggs for breakfast, and then the other half of a tiny chocolate cake while watching the Rose Parade.

The kitten has done himself an injury. He fell a couple weeks ago, from a height too low for him to right himself before landing, and he's been limping intermittently and profoundly, but very briefly, since.

The kitten plays fetch, which is great, and also spends a lot of time chasing himself around things, which is amusing. And every once in a while, as he trots back towards me, one of his legs is clearly moving in a way it's not designed to, but then literally 30 seconds later, he's tearing across the carpet again. He's a fairly odd duck at all times, so it's bonus tough for me to tell when he's just being wacky, and when he might be scared or in pain.

But of course he's only done the clearly wrong limping at times when I was looking at having to take him to an emergency vet instead of their regular one - 3pm Saturday, the evening of the 23rd, etc. He came up funny again Tuesday night, so I called the vet yesterday and took him right in, hooray.

Poor baby has grade 2 patellar luxation (loose kneecaps, basically) in both hind legs, so the limping has probably been one of his kneecaps slipping out of place. The good news is that it also slips back? It may be injury, it may be growth related. He's on glucosamin for it, or he will be once I get my hands on some cosequin for cats, because the "treats" the vet game me, he just licks and then spits back out.

The vet's advice was "try to limit his jumping," and then she said "yeah, I know," and shrugged.

And now I'm getting ready to watch the Winter Classic, about which my only opinion so far is that I like Alex Ovechkin's hair.

I started reading Dezinformatsiya (the spy AU) this morning, and I'm going to go back to it, but I was sort of confused by how abrupt Sid and Geno's first meeting was.

Also on deck, And Never Been Kissed is finished! I read the first four chapters as they were posted, and then fell off last week. But soon!
