This? is still not a 5 words post.
So, this is the super-important week because it determines who makes the cut to go on tour, right? And last week with original partners, blah blah blah.
Melissa and Ade's disco was... a little stiff at moments. Wow, did the judges love that more than I did. Mary said well-executed, and I totally agree with that. Melissa had some great moments, but their transitions were... not hot. I liked their waltz much better, but capitalism has totally ruined Natural Woman for me, because of that commercial for herbal essences or whatever where the woman is singing in the shower. Nicely danced, though. I'm not sure either of them are entertaining enough to take the whole thing. I'll be very interested to see Ade with a different partner next week.
Going into the commercial break, I was so excited by Kayla and Kupono's costumes, and then I loved, loved, loved their routine (I forgive you, Mia). And then, oh, god did I want to punch Mary in the face during her critique. I totally had tears welling up in my eyes in the middle of the routine, and not a single one of the judges reacted to it emotionally. It sort of reminded me of Lacey and Cameron (? whatever his name was) in the routine where she was throwing herself around? As for broadway, I can't remember what Joey choreographed last time, but I do remember that I didn't love the routine. I thought they danced the characters we saw her asking for in the rehearsal package, though.
Caitlin and Jason's foxtrot was great, and I really liked them in it, but I don't think its going to make people pick up the phone. They danced their jazz piece very well (has Mandy ever choreographed to a song released in the past 10 years?). I want them to bring Stacey Tookey back.
Phillip and Jeanine... yeah, that was rough. They're no Twitch and Josh. I don't know what was up with the choreography. I don't at all mind the little quaint folk bit - which was, inexplicably, in the middle... was that an attempt to give them a breather between the jumping bits? I kept waiting for it to accelerate, and it kept not, and now I'm really curious whether that was choreographing down to what they could accomplish, or what. I really, really though Phillip was going to pull off the jive, like, completely. He spent too much time standing there :( Janine, though, is completely and totally fabulous. Love her.
Randi and Evan - the Hip-hop choreography was a little overly literal for me, and Evan is...twinkly, bless him. Pascha and Anya are hot hot hot, and Evan and Randi had to live up to their memory I think. And I typed that right before Nigel said it. I think Evan might be going home. He's just too self-conscious. And OMG, Tyce is hilarious. Intentionally, usually. See: orange juice.
Aaaand Jeanette and Brandon. I love Argentine Tango. Tango sort of bores me, honestly, but I love the precision in Argentine, and they nailed it. (WTH was up with Tyce's orange juice analogy though?) Brandon is such a completely different person when he dances. He and Kupono both are, and Phillip and Evan are going to have a hard time competing with that, I think. Jason is Switzerland. I don't know what I could possibly say about Brandon and Jeanette dancing Wade Robson's choreography. Heaven. Just awesome.
In other news, I need to find more NuTrek fic to read. I'm watching the comms on DW, but I just end up scrolling past most of the entries. I tire of kink meme fics.

Date: 2009-07-09 02:56 am (UTC)Two indecent exposure citations, one best friend, one amazing sex partner, one unexpected mentor, and a Starfleet-funded study of intercultural sexual norms. Sounds like a normal academic year for Gaila.
