healingmirth: (diehard)
So, I got sucked into Die Hard courtesy of a recent post on [livejournal.com profile] epic_recs (yeah, thanks for that...)

That Guy, and sequels His Space, and Point B by [livejournal.com profile] utopiantrunks
Live Free or Die Hard, Matt/John, PG-13 to NC-17

If I could rec only one piece of Die Hard fic, ever, I think it would be Point B. Not only is it hot like the sun, but it features a John and Matt that make me want to point and say "that's them, exactly." The series as a whole features awesome description of the fire sale aftermath in New York intertwined with the character development.

I wrote more stuff. I really, really hope I have purged my brain for the next 3 weeks, because I do, seriously, have other things I should be using it for.

I had this moment of thinking that I would someday stitch them together into a single story, but they're written in three somewhat disparate styles. I may put them up as 3 chapters in the same story on ff.net.

Live Free or Die Hard, John McClane/Matt Farrell

the previously mentioned it ain't me - PG-13. 1700 words.
Written first, and really, I'd read it first, because it has backstory, and it's not like you don't know where it's headed :) Reposted on DW, 5/9/09

John McClane Can Slam a Revolving Door (original post) - R (language) 3400 words
Prequel to it ain't me. A touch more backstory and an actual plot

Shifting out of Neutral(original post) - R (language and sexual content, but not explicit) 3400 words. Set immediately after. Relationshippyness.

I have had way too much coffee. I am, I think, fonder of Shifting out of Neutral than I have been of anything else I've written, but that is it least partly because I can really hear myself in it, and that can go either way. I think this might be the most words I have ever written in a week, including weeks with term papers due.

ETA: I am also, even, suddenly, fond of the title, which was chosen nearly at random, decidedly after the writing of the story. There was a brief, crazy, moment when it was going to be called "I love it when a plan comes together" but I couldn't even make myself type that.

ETA, part 2: Trey? Is like a malevolent gerbil. That needs to be said.
