I'm running, again, jumping back into the Couch to 5k program like I typically do at this time of year. Before I typically abandon it about halfway through the summer. I doubt I'll have anything super noteworthy to say about it, but I'm trying to at least do a better job of tracking it over at [community profile] c25k

The wrap-up of Free HBO Weekend included watching Josie and the Pussycats with the sound off, because I wanted to get it off my DVR and onto my hard drive. And who should I see, as a... mall employee selling orange things? not sure, actually, but a young JR Bourne, everyone's favorite Martouf and/or Chris Argent!
yeah, )

Also, Alan Cumming. And Parker Posey. And everyone who was in a teen movie in the late 90s. I can't comment, obviously, since I didn't listen to a single word of dialogue, but it seemed like the production and the acting were worlds cleverer than the actual plot. Oh, well.

Also, Roll Bounce. Because why not.

My reaction to the Justified series finale, which seems to be fairly common, was "Well, that could have been worse." I'm way more excited about what they've set up for Season Six than I was for anything that actually happened in Season Five. I do love some Dewey Crowe, though. That was good stuff.
healingmirth: Timothy Olyphant as Raylon Givens from Justified (olyphant)
I caught up on the rest of season four of Justified last night. OMG, y'all, I love this show so much. Why did it take me two weeks to open up the DVDs?

The main cast is gold, the writing is gold, the supporting cast is gold. The directing is, I assume, also quite good, even if I'm no good at parsing it! In addition to Mike O'Malley (Kurt's dad on Glee, among everything else) showing up and knocking it out of the park as a big mafia dog from Detroit, and various and sundry other awesomeness, this season also gave us John Kapelos (Carl, everyone's favorite janitor from The Breakfast Club!). And Patton Oswalt, who got ever more awesome by the scene.

The dude who played Zack on Dark Angel, on the other hand is still pretty much lantern-jawed and one-note, but you can't win them all. (Also, I never watched Dante's Cove, but Ambrosius Vallin? Really?)

New Justified sooooooon! How am I going to manage just getting one episode a week? It was ridiculously easy to watch like ten episodes in a row yesterday, and I'm not much of a binge-watcher anymore.

(Also new Teen Wolf soon. I'm worried. Anyone else worried?)

For reference, in the season 3 premiere spoilers, naturally )

By the end of the season 4 premiere, I just felt... disappointed. It was a little like watching an episode of Law and Order. Maybe SVU.

Justified, why? )

I have no idea where Justified fandom hangs out. I don't usually have an overwhelming urge to participate, because much of what I want from fandom in general is trope-y or AU or worldbuilding and OCs out of nowhere or general ridiculousness, and Justified is just a really good show, you guys.

All that is to say that pretty much the only time I read Justified fic is when it shows up like magic on my reading page, or this year when I saw a Yuletide letter on, like, the 24th that mentioned Raylan and Tim getting drunk or discovering they having something in common.

So, now that I can say "omg you should go read all the Yuletide Justified fics" without either sekritly self-reccing, or pointedly leaving my own fic out, uh, you should go read them
my story, which I'm pleased with for the jumpy, snippety thing it is, and three others which are all different and all excellent )

New season next week! Why do none of the people I eat lunch with watch this show :(
